Former NBA star Rajon Rondo found himself in legal trouble over the weekend, as he was reportedly arrested on Sunday following a routine traffic stop in Jackson County, Indiana. According to reports from Jason Riley of WDRB, law enforcement discovered a firearm, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia in Rondo’s vehicle during the stop.

The incident unfolded when Rondo, 37, was pulled over for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, a trooper detected the odor of marijuana emanating from inside, prompting a search that led to the discovery of the aforementioned items. Sergeant Stephen Wheeles of the Indiana State Police confirmed the details of the arrest, noting that Rondo was not permitted to possess a firearm due to a court-ordered no-contact order against him.

Previous Incidents for Rajon Rondo

It is worth noting that in 2022, Rondo had an emergency protective order filed by another party dismissed. This was done after documents stated that the parties “reached an agreement,” according to ESPN.

In the original filing of that order, the woman seeking it stated that she feared for the safety of her children and that Rondo had threatened her with a firearm.

Following his arrest, Rondo was taken to the Jackson County Jail, where he posted bond shortly thereafter. However, neither a mug shot nor court records have been made available online, leaving details of his arraignment undisclosed.

Rondo, a mainstay in the NBA landscape, last played professionally during the 2021-22 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Known for his playmaking abilities and clutch performances, he earned the moniker “Playoff Rondo” for his postseason showcases. Throughout his career, Rondo secured two NBA championships with the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers, and received four All-Star selections.

As of now, neither Rondo nor his representatives have issued a statement regarding the recent arrest, leaving fans and observers awaiting further developments in the case.
