IU Football Makes Another Cig-nificant Addition with Mike Ferrara

Mike Ferrara- new director of player personnel

Mike Ferrara to become the new Director of Player Personnel at Indiana University.

Coach Curt Cignetti has made no bones about it- he came to Indiana University to win immediately. So far, every move he has made leans toward that end. He has made important additions in the offensive backfield in terms of quarterback and running backs. He has also generated one of the most plentiful wide receiver units in the Big 10.

Today, Curt Cignetti has added another important piece. According to sources, IU has hired Mike Ferrara to become the next Director of Player Personnel. Ferrara’s entire career to this point has been involved with scouting and identifying players. Most recently, Ferrara served as the associate director at LSU for the past two seasons, working closely with Will Redmond. Prior to that Ferrara worked at Texas A&M and Tennessee. In those roles he was an assistant at A&M and a volunteer with recruiter development at Tennessee. He briefly spent time with the Cleveland Browns breaking down film and identifying prospects.

So, what does he bring to the Hoosiers? Well, this is his first time in this role, but he has had extensive training in this department over the past eight years. The key to this hire is his connection to the SEC. As everyone knows, the SEC has been a hotbed for football talent for years. Ferrara has been immersed in that culture and has made connections that can prove useful to the Hoosiers and Coach Cignetti.

Ferrara could be a key component in breaking the losing tradition and attitude at Indiana University. Coach Cignettie wins- just google him. But at IU, that may not be enough. Dipping into the SEC and bringing some of that culture can’t be a bad thing for IU. Looking forward to see how Ferrara helps recruit the south.
