Notre Dame baseball had reason to celebrate this past weekend as they clinched their first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) series win of the season, marking a significant milestone for the team.

The Fighting Irish kicked off the series against Miami Hurricanes with a strong start, securing victories on both Friday and Saturday, setting the stage for what promised to be an exciting finale on Sunday.

Despite facing a formidable opponent in the host Miami Hurricanes team, Notre Dame maintained their momentum, taking an early lead and dominating the game with a commanding 7-1 advantage after four innings.

However, the Hurricanes staged a remarkable comeback in the fifth inning, rallying with an impressive eight-run surge, seizing control of the game. Yet, Notre Dame displayed resilience and determination, mounting a counterattack to level the score at 10-10 by the bottom of the ninth inning.

The tension escalated as the game entered extra innings, with Miami managing to edge ahead, scoring two crucial runs. Despite their best efforts, the Fighting Irish were unable to respond, ultimately conceding the victory to the Hurricanes.

Although Notre Dame experienced a setback in the final game of the series, their outstanding performances in the preceding games secured their first ACC series win, marking a significant achievement for the team.

Following the series victory, Notre Dame’s season record now stands at 14-9 overall, with a conference record of 2-7 in the ACC. The team looks ahead to their upcoming contests, with a home game against Bowling Green scheduled for Tuesday, a game that was cancelled, followed by an away series against NC State next weekend.
